Cosmetic Preservatives

Iscaguard Overview

Preservatives are added to all manner of products in the personal care and cosmetic industry. These preservatives (sometimes called antimicrobials or biocides) inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungus in easily spoiled products, thereby increasing the products shelf life and consumer safety.

ISCA UK has a range of ISCAGUARD and ISCACIDE preservatives that can be used in formulations such as shampoo, shower gel, liquid soap, wet wipes, moisturising cream, and so on.

We also have a fully equipped in-house microbiology laboratory that allows us to work with customers to develop new products, test existing formulations, resolve production issues and evaluate our cutting edge developmental preservative product range.

ISCA UK has over 30 years’ cumulative experience and expertise in preservatives for personal care. Our knowledge ranges from more traditional preservatives like parabens, methylisothiazolinone, formaldehyde and IPBC, to natural and ‘preservative free’ additives suitable for the latest generation of ECOCERT products lines (see our products here).

Our on-going research into safer and more natural preservatives, such as biomimetic polymers and antimicrobial peptides means we are able to carry our customers forward to the leading edge of preservative science.
